Federation Internationale Féline

The Ragdoll appears in three patterns - Colourpoint, Mitted and Bicolour - and four colours - seal, blue, chocolate and lilac - altogether 12 varieties.
STANDARD
General Appearance The Ragdoll is a firm, large cat with a medium boned muscular body. Solid in the overall appearance.
Size Large
Head Shape Medium size, broad modified wedge with the appearance of a flat plane between the ears.
Nose The nose should show a slight curve in the upper third.

Chin
Cheeks well developed, tapering to a rounded well developed, medium long muzzle and a well developed chin.
Ears Shape Medium size, broad at the base, with rounded tips.
Placement Set wide on the skull with a slight tilt forward.
Eyes Shape Large and oval.
Outer edge of the eye aperture to be level with the base of the ears.
Color Blue, the more intensive the better, in relation to the body color.
Neck Short and strong.
Body Structure Long body, medium bone structure, muscular.
Chest broad and well developed.
Muscular and heavy in the hind quarters.
The mature cat is as broad at the shoulders as it is at the hind quarters.
Legs Medium in length and of medium bone.
Hind legs to be slightly higher than the front, giving the line of the back a slightly forward tilt in appearance.
Paws Large, round and compact, tufted between the toes.
Tail Long, medium broad at the base, slight tapered towards the tip and in proportion to the body.
Well furnished, bushy.
Coat Structure Medium long, dense, soft and silky texture, lying with the body and breaking as the cat moves.
Longest around the neck and framing the outer edge of the face giving the appearance of a bib.
Short on the face increasing in length from the top of the head to the shoulders down the back.
Medium to long on the sides, abdomen and hind quarters.
Short to medium long on the fron legs.

Remarks
  • Females noticeably smaller than males.
  • Male jowls should be taken into consideration.
  • Development is slow.
Faults Head Narrow head.
Nose Stop, roman nose.
Ears
  • Large or small ears.
  • Pointed ears.
Eyes Almond in shape.
Neck Too long and too thin neck.
Body
  • Cobby body
  • Narrow Chest
Legs
  • Short legs.
  • Splayed toes.
  • Lack of tufting.
Tail
  • Short tail
  • Blunt tip
Coat Short coat (seasonal).

RECOGNIZED COLOUR VARIETIES
RAGDOLL BICOLOUR RAG n/a/b/c 03
Coat Points - ears, mask and tail - to be well defined. The mask to have an inverted white "V".

Body colour is to be a shade lighter than the points; white spots on the back allowed.
Stomach white and without spots.
Preference is given to white legs.

Nose leather Pink
Paw pads
Faults Ears White on the ears.
Tail White on the tail.

NOT RECOGNIZED COLOUR VARIETIES
These varieties are needed for breeding purposes and are therefore registered.
The Standard is the same as described above.
The colours are the same as mentioned above. Substitute Code 03 with Code 04 for Mitted and with Code 33 for Colourpoint.
RAGDOLL MITTED RAG x n/a/b/c 04
Coat Points (except paws and chin) and body colour as in the Colourpoint, well defined and in harmony with the body colour.
White chin, white stripe on the nose is preferred.
White mittens on the front legs; back feet should be entirely white extending to the higher hock.
White stripe extends from the bib and runs down the underside between the front legs to the base of the tail.
Nose leather Analogous to the colour of the points.
Paw pads Pink.
Faults Head Lack of white chin.
Legs Any dark spot on the white mittens.
Coat
  • Any dark spot on the belly.
  • Lack of white stripe

RAGDOLL COLOURPOINT RAG x n/a/b/c 33
RECOGNIZED 1997
Coat Colour of points - Ears, mask, legs and tail - to be well defined and in harmony with the body colour.

Body colour sound to the roots and lighter than point colour. Chest and bib lighter in colour than body colour. Slight shadings of colour are allowed on the body and the stomach (belly spot).

Nose leather Analogous to the colour of the points.
Paw pads
Remarks Refer to the General Part, Himalayan Pointed.
Faults Coat Any white spot.
